On Bank Holiday Monday 27 May we will be holding another memorial day at the club to honour and celebrate the life of our late and greatly missed club captain, Phil Alexander.
Once again, the aim is to make the day a typical ‘Phil day’ with plenty of competitive and social cricket, tasty food and a bit of time in the bar.
The day will commence with bacon rolls and coffee from 9 a.m. and this will be free to players and helpers
The first game of cricket will commence at 10 a.m. and will be a competitive 40-over match between an Outwood First XI and the Falcons. First XI players should update their availability in the usual way for this game.
Between the innings, at about 12.30, there will be a paying bbq lunch, and after the reverse innings finishes at about 4 p.m. there will be a cricket tea, free to all. Our chairman will also make a short speech in memory of Phil.
The second game will be a T20 which will commence at about 4.45, and will be open to anyone of any standard wishing to play. This will include members of Phil’s family and several of his friends from Lingfield, and we will endeavour to make sure that anybody playing in this game will have a bat or a bowl. If you wish to play in this game would you please e-mail Richard Hiscocks at richard@helenhiscocks.plus.com and advise him accordingly - Should we have more than 22 players we will work around that, so don’t hold back!
Once the T20 game is over the bar will remain open for the rest of the evening.
All profits from the day will be added to the fund that is being run in Phil’s memory to coach young cricketers at Outwood.
