U9's take their next Victory
Contrary to the weather forecast the sun was shining as the team arrived at 8.45 to warm up.
The BBQ was lit and bacon rolls were ready to give everyone the energy for the next few hours.
The opposition arrived and were looking strong.
Match Captain Dylan Manerowski
took to the square with the other Captain for the toss, he won and elected Outwood to field first.
Rallying the troops and with the words of the coaches, they took to the field to put what they have been learning in the Academy to the test.
Sure enough, the coaching has paid off. Fielding was relatively tight, they were working together, backing up and communicating like they have been playing together for years.
There were two new players to the field this match, James Peacock
and Christian Sullivan
who both made their mark and did a great job in both batting and fielding.
After 4 wickets were taken, two of which by Stanley Philips
, we had kept the oppositions total down to just 246
Next it was Outwood's turn to bat and the first pair Sebastian and Joe were in position. After a tidy session it was time for the Dylan and Stanley to take to the crease.
Some awesome teamwork and shots from Dylan (26 runs) and Stanley made the win look within our grasp. Next it was Alex and new to the field, Christian. Each did a fine job with Christian finishing on a brilliant 10 runs for his first ever game. Next Gabriel and James for another tidy session giving away no wickets and finally, hard hitter Henry and William to close off the day.
Both hitting the ball around the field and finishing on 16 each.
Final result, Outwood 350, Chipstead Coulsdon and Walcountains 246.
Again another great effort from each and everyone one of this weeks team members and they are all growing so well as a team.
