1st XI skipper smashes 21 year club batting record

History was made at the 'Wood on Saturday 1 August.

Batting first, Outwood openers Tunstall and Middleton reached 29 before Dru fell to the first Ball of the fifth over. Ashley was joined at the crease by club captain and first team skipper Louis Russell-Watts. Between them, they amassed a further 264 runs, before Ashley was unluckily run out on 102, backing up when the Bidborough bowler parried a return catch chance straight on to the non-strikers stumps in the 36th over.

Louis then continued to pile on the runs, before he holed out on the final ball of the Outwood Innings with his personal score on 185 out of Outwood's 337 for 3

Louis' innings of 185 from 123 balls included 21 fours, and 7 sixes and eclipsed the record held by Neil Stevens of 175* whilst playing for the 2005 league winning side.

Unsurprisingly, Louis innings lifted him to a well deserved top spot of the Surrey Play-Cricket honours board for week 16 of the summer competition.

Outwood ran our comfortable winners, and with our near rivals losing, we are back on top of the table with the crunch game to be played at the wood on 15 August.
