Outwood vs. South Nutfield – June 27th, 1959
Norris Nine-for Seals Derby Glory at The Wood
On June 27th, 1959, Outwood hosted local rivals South Nutfield in a match that would be remembered for one of the most extraordinary bowling performances in club history. Batting first, The Wood posted a strong 190 from their 46 overs, thanks to a composed 69 from K Christie and a fluent 41 from J Greenhalgh.
But it was with the ball that the day truly belonged to Outwood — and to K Norris in particular. Bowling 17 overs straight through, Norris returned jaw-dropping figures of 16.4 overs, 7 maidens, 9 wickets for 37 runs. South Nutfield were bowled out for 143, handing Outwood a 47-run victory. We’ll keep searching the archives for a better individual bowling performance — but this one will take some beating.
