After weeks of rain, when at times it did not seem possible that the season's opener could take place, the Outwood 2nd XI 'The Soops' took on Graveney in the first of a T20 double header.
Choosing to bat first, The Soops posted a modest 110 in their 20 overs and it never looked enough with the Graveney No.2 Thompson in particularly destructive mood scoring 35 from 19 balls.
For Outwood, only Paul Griffiths made runs scoring 35 in 45 balls. A nifty cameo from Duncan Alger (18 from 18) gave the innings a boost, but with overs running out batsmen were under pressure to score from the get go and all perished trying to force the pace.
Outwood bowling had its moments, but with too few runs to defend it was always going to be a struggle. Guy Bignall (3 overs/10 runs) and John Hall (2 overs/3 runs) were particularly parsimonious.
