The 2nds maintained their position near the top of the table with a good win at the beautiful Eynsford ground beside the River Darent. The first two thirds of the game followed a familiar pattern with excellent Outwood bowling and fielding dismissing Eynsford for 102 - the same score achieved by both sides in last weeks tie against Otford. There were very few loose deliveries and all the bowlers bowled well, backed up by athletic fielding and more good catches, notably a fine one-handed effort at cover by Nick Briggs. Felix Teasdale also took two good ones behind the stumps. Pick of the bowling figures were 2 for 6 from 5 overs by Chris Preen, 2 for 17 from 6.2 overs by Dru and 3 for 16 from 8 by the skipper.
The familiar pattern continued as Outwood stumbled to 32 for 3 after 9 overs but Chris Preen (21) and Rob Rigby (33 no) held firm in a hard-hitting 50 partnership for the 4th wicket. When Chris fell, the in-form Max Evans joined Rob to finish things off in style, 56 runs coming off the last 5 overs. This win puts us in second place behind Pembury and although still early days, promotion to Div. 6 must now be a firm target.
