They say that when you fall off a horse you should jump straight back on (assuming you haven't broken any bones!). So, after last weeks batting disappointment Outwood had the chance to get back to normal with a much improved performance. At 25 - 3 after 6.1 overs things weren't exactly going to plan although to be fair, Linton's very young opening bowlers bowled extremely well. Luckily Outwood had an old, sorry - experienced head at no. 4 in the form of Rob Rigby and he and Dru (elevated to no. 5) set about repairing the damage with an initially watchful, but later swashbuckling partnership of 118. Rob was eventually caught on the boundary for 58 from 55 balls.
When the competitive but normally amenable Dru was joined by Harry Mawer they turned into a couple of rampaging monsters to savage the struggling Linton Park attack. After completing his maiden league 50 in 58 balls and 71 minutes, it took Dru only another 18 balls to bring up his first ever ton which included 15 fours and 3 sixes. When he was eventually out for 112 in the 34th over, Dru and Harry had put on 73 in just 5 overs. Harry went on to score 85 in only 39 balls, including 7 fours and 8 sixes and was unbeaten as Outwood reached 311 for 8 in their 40 overs.
In reply, Nigel Thirkell and Darrell Houghton-Judge took the attack to Outwood but with a wealth of bowling talent available (Dru didn't even get a bowl) the Outwood total was not evenly remotely threatened as Linton Park finished on 136 for 8. Wickets were shared amongst six bowlers with Rob and Lucas taking two apiece.
Back on track for the title so lets concentrate on avoiding any more slip-ups.
