Captain-for-the-day Marcus Malley ably lead his team to a comfortable victory over bottom-of-the-table Otford. Otford 2nds are where Outwood 2nds were 2 years ago - lots of young talent who are a bit too young to compete at the level they are playing but who will serve their club well in future. Outwood had to work hard for their runs early on and had lost two wickets before the score reached 40. However, the skipper (54 in 48 balls) then joined Dad in a solid partnership of 79 with James going on to make 70. Dru injected a welcome flurry of runs with 20 in just14 balls including a six and 3 fours. Outwood's total of 204 for 8 would take some getting by their young opponents.
Marcus (1 for 9 off 6 overs) and Dru (3 for 10 off 6) quickly reduced the home side to 8 for 2 and then 21 for 4. Max Evans was a bit too quick for the Otford middle order and put victory beyond doubt with a spell of 8 overs, 4 maidens, 4 for 18. All the bowlers were ably assisted by Duncan who took 4 catches behind the stumps, 2 of them very sharp.
The beginning of June sees Outwood on top of Div.6. Can we stay there?
