Report by our Special Correspondent - Dru Tunstall
The covers were removed and the bone dry wicket revealed. Outwood won the toss and elected to field. The Horsmonden openers were going at a slow pace and opening bowlers Max and Dru kept their bowling tight. Some short bowling from Max took the first 2 wickets. Dru quickly follows Max's genius idea and soon took his first wicket thanks to a class catch from Keith Hall. Rob Rigby and Lucas Evans backed up the opening bowling with Rob's 3 for 19 off 4 overs. Lucas also took a wicket thanks to a truly outstanding, astonishing worldy of a catch from Dru Tunstall [..he's not wrong! - Ed.]. Keith Hall then slowed the runs down with his 7 overs going for 9 runs with 1 wicket and 5 maidens. Horsmonden were bowled out in 35 overs
The target was 130 as the young Jonny Bairstow of Outwood - Lucas Evans - set out with the more experienced Paul Howard. Lucas got off to a shaky start having been dropped once and almost chopped on to his own stumps, but soon reached his 50 in 49 balls. The opening pair knocked off the runs in 16.4 overs. A stellar performance from both Paul and Lucas. A well deserved 77* for Lucas including 11 fours and 2 sixes .
