Having travelled to Falconhurst in recent years we've experienced closely fought matches, enjoyed superb good teas, as well as a pitch at an interesting angle and good, close cricket matches. Hopefully the Falconhurst team went home happy after a great Sunday afternoon at The Wood.

With regular Captains James & James away, Haroon took the reigns as Sunday skipper for this match on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Outwood lost the toss, and were put into bat against their dangerous and accurate young fast bowlers!

Johnny and Imran went out to open, on a tough pitch for batters. The opening bowlers knew what to do and were using the pitch very well. Both getting movement from the slope, the top order played patiently and for the most part well, although naturally a few edges led to some wickets. Oli was the most patient (boring) of the lot with a 75 minute 28 (61) but an exhilarating 40 from Riz that showed it was possible to get quick runs out there! Skipper Haroon also batted well and it was good to see some newer faces get time at the crease for Outwood - we hope to see them some more! We ended 150 all-out using 34 of our 40 overs which we thought left us a few short.

Tea was once again enjoyed on Sunday, thanks to Oli (and Mum) - something the club have missed in the past few years and are glad to see returning more frequently.

And so we went out to field, with Falconhurst chasing 150. Johnny took the gloves and did very well throughout, with very few extras going against him. Despite some early wickets thanks to a classy opening bowling partnership from John and Imran, an excellent 4th wicket partnership took Falconhurst close to their target. As they got closer to the 151 target, It became clear that, as suspected, we came 2 dozen runs short with the bat. Well done to both teams for the good spirit and we look forward to playing at their lovely ground later!

The Falconhurst batters tried their hardest for a comical run out yet the opportunities were never seized. Nevertheless, the moment of the match has to go to young Charlie McAllister for scoring the winning runs, well done!
