In a tense Surrey Slam T20 quarter-final, the Outwood Outlaws fell short against the Greyshott Ghosts, who secured a 18-run victory. Batting first, the Ghosts posted a modest total of 122 runs in their 20 overs. Despite losing six wickets in the first ten overs, they managed a recovery of sorts, boosting their score, taking advantage of a few costly Outlaws overs in the latter half of their innings. Wylie and Mist were the standout bowlers for the Outlaws, conceding just 11 and 14 runs respectively, keeping the Ghosts' scoring in check.
The Outlaws' chase began on a strong note, staying well above the required run rate during the initial 10 overs. However, the match's momentum shifted in the eleventh over when the Outlaws lost crucial wickets for just seven runs, leaving us on 78 runs with six wickets down. The introduction of two slow right-arm bowlers from the Ghosts, stifled the Outlaws' scoring and we couldn't regain our rhythm ultimately falling short, finishing with 104 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
So no visit to the Oval for us this year, but a creditable run in the cup none-the-less with the lads giving us some fantastic matches to look back on.
