Round three of the Slam with our Outlaws away to the O&L Grasshoppers and a result that was in doubt down to the last ball.
Winning the toss the Grasshoppers batted first, rasing a total of 128-6 in their 20 overs. A modest score, but on a large pitch. Five wickets for the bowlers, and a run out for Talbot kept the score at about a run a ball with Jonathan Wylie particularly frugal with an economy of 4.25.
The Outlaws reply was a case good things coming to those who wait. A slow start and wickets early in the innings meant that the batters couldn't break free, and do the hard yards with balls and batters in hand.
Two overs out, the game looked like it was Oxted's to lose - 27 runs needed for the win. Lucas and Adeen at the crease. With Lucas facing, the first ball of over 18 went for 6...followed up by five more runs from four of the remaining balls.
Final over - 16 runs needed. Again, Lucas on strike and again a six from the first ball, followed by five runs from four balls leaving six to win nfrom two balls. A four from the penultimate ball, one for the tie, two to win.
In the end a tie - and points shared. A result that doesn't do us any favours in the race for top spot, but two more games and two more wins means we have a good chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the competition.
