Outlaws Overpower Magics

The Outwood Outlaws opened their 2019 Surrey Slam campaign with a convincing win against the Merstham Magics.

Losing the toss and asked to bowl, the Outlaws had Merstham at 25-5 in the 8th over. Middle order batting rallied the Magics through the hitting of Imran Khan, who was well caught and bowled by Matt Norman for 47 in the 18th over. The Magics closed their innings on 112-9 in the 20th over. Lucas Evans bowled well at the start (4-0-11-3) with skipper Norman bowling at the death also picking up three wickets (3-0-17-3)

In reply, the Outlaws set off at a furious pace, taking only 32 balls to reach their 50 and a further 26 to reach 100. Ashley Middleton in particular was in fine form, closing on 50 not out from 31 balls as Outwood reached the target in the 10th over, with Harry Mawer on 26no from 19.

A good job well done. Next week an altogether tougher prospect as we take on the South Nutfield Stallions at away South Nutfield.
