Another solid performance with the bat has taken the Outwood Outlaws through to the knockout stages of the Surrey Slam tournament.
The Outlaws scored 176, including a 36 ball 50 from Christopher Preen and an 18 ball 26 from Harry Mawer. Despite a rapid start from the 'Magics' openers they were never to get on top of the run rate, and after the first wicket went down on 51, their innings fell away as the run rate climbed. Several dropped catches could have unseated the Outlaws, but the opposition were not able to take the advantage.
Ben Cleaver was the pick of the Outlaw bowlers with another excellent performance. Ben finished with figures of 4-0-9-4 including 17 dot balls and a three wickets in four balls in the 12th over, the hat trick only missed by a wide off the third ball.
So an away fixture beckons against the Horley Strollers, winners of group 'D', likely to be scheduled w/c 8 July
